17-year-old Ukrainian Stepanov made his debut for Bayer in the Champions League match.


Bayer forward Artem Stepanov came on as a substitute in the Champions League match against Salzburg.
Stepanov replaced Patrick Schick in the 73rd minute when the score was 5:0 in favor of Bayer.
This was Stepanov's debut match in the Champions League and at the adult level overall.
He became the youngest Ukrainian football player to play in the Champions League. At the age of 17 years, 3 months, and 16 days, he stepped onto the field.
The previous record was held by Dmytro Chyhrynskyi, who played in the Champions League for Shakhtar at the age of 18 years and 1 month.
Stepanov became the first Ukrainian to play in this tournament before reaching adulthood.

In the next match, Shakhtar will face PSV. The game will take place at the Philips stadium in Eindhoven.
The match will start at 22:00 Kyiv Time.
The game will be broadcasted by the media service Megogo.
A total of 36 clubs participate in the group stage of the Champions League.
Shakhtar played their fourth match this season with one point and no goals scored.
In the previous match, Shakhtar defeated Young Boys with a score of 2:1.
Matches between Shakhtar and Young Boys have not taken place since the 2016/17 season, when the teams competed in the third qualifying round. At that time, the matches ended with a score of 2:0, but Shakhtar lost in the penalty shootout.
