Zelensky's meeting with Blinken and Lemmy
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and UK Foreign Minister David Lemmy, who arrived for a visit to Ukraine. The meeting took place on September 11, 2024.
Zelensky expressed gratitude for the support of Ukraine by the US and the UK, calling both countries leaders in this issue since the beginning of the full-scale war. The President informed the guests about the situation on the front and the urgent needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Special attention was paid to Ukraine receiving permission to use long-range weapons provided by the US and other partners. Prospects for cooperation in the defense industry complex within the framework of signed bilateral security agreements were also discussed.
Zelensky also thanked the US for the new sanctions package against Iran due to the supply of Russian ballistic missiles, and the UK for the new defense package announced at the "Ramstein" meeting.
The parties discussed preparations for the second Peace Summit and future contacts between the leaders of states during the session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
After the meeting, Zelensky emphasized the importance of Ukrainian arguments being heard, especially regarding long-range weapons, the provision of combat brigades on the front line, and the overall strategy of achieving fair peace.
