In his work, Matviychuk sings praises to Kyiv, which is going through difficult times due to Russian aggression. The creator calls for the city to get used to its fresh wounds and ruins that have accompanied recent events.
Kyiv Day...A sacred day for the heart.A ringing Time for the native capital.Once itShone with songs,And people walked friendly and bright-faced.
But now you,My bright Kyiv,Count your fresh wounds and ruins,For the enemy is – mad and terribleStubbornly aiming at the heart of Ukraine.
It is unbearable for himTo understand thatYou shine with holy domes,While he – with his black deedsWill forever enter history.
He needsYour heavenly furyYour high indomitable strength!Dnipro-SlavutychAnd green hills!Without you he –Is just a filthy vandal.
You, Kyiv,Are his spiritual axis,And that sacred stone of stumbling. On which heWill break for the last time –To death! And you will rise high!
There will still be plentyOf poems and songs.Whoever did not betray us,Will become a brother. And there will still beThe best holiday in the worldKyiv Day –A sacred and peaceful day.
As a result of the Russian attack on the night of May 25, 'shaheds' and missiles reached Kyiv, leaving damage and wounded in their wake. Destructive activities were recorded in various parts of the capital, resulting in minor injuries and material losses in urban life.
