Documentary Film by Jamala Won at Cannes Festival.

The film "Jamala. Songs of freedom", created by the team of the American international public broadcasting company "Voice of America", received the "Golden Dolphin" award in the Human Concerns and Social Issues category at the international corporate film festival Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards. This was announced by Ukrainian singer Jamala on her Facebook page. Her film was selected from among 800 applications from 46 countries.
In her message, the singer reminded that the film "Jamala. Songs of freedom" tells not so much about her as about every Ukrainian.
«In every frame of this film, what Ukrainians have been experiencing for the past three years is depicted. Here, it's about the story from the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, about these three years of losses, pain, suffering, expectations, and uncertainty. But at the same Time, this film is about our desperate struggle for our freedom», – added Jamala.
Recall that the song by Ukrainian singer Jamala was included in the top three songs in the history of the Eurovision contest. This was reported by the British publication The Guardian. It is about the song by the Ukrainian performer with Crimean Tatar roots "1944", which brought her victory in the song contest in 2016. The song's text about the ethnic cleansing of Crimean Tatars by Stalin sparked controversy - Russian politicians complained that it was allegedly related to Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014.
Earlier it was reported that the occupation authorities of Crimea nationalized the assets of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and singer Jamala. The occupiers appropriated property belonging to her as well as two land plots and a residential building in Alushta. According to the documents, they are registered to her relatives.
