Michel Platini proposes reducing the number of players on the field
Former UEFA head Michel Platini proposed reducing the number of players on the field to ten. He believes that this would create more space on the field and increase the speed of the game. According to him: "Maybe we should remove one player from each team and play with ten. Then the players will run more and be more effective on the field".
Platini also noted that people of his generation stopped being interested in football because of the more attacking game. He believes that reducing the number of players can change the game to be more dynamic and exciting.
Michel Platini led UEFA from 2007 to 2015. He resigned due to a corruption scandal, but his innocence was later confirmed by the court.
The Swiss prosecutor's office has appealed the court decision that cleared Platini from an eight-year ban from sports. The hearing will take place next year.
