The General Staff reported how many enemy drones were shot down in September and October.

The Ukrainian army shot down 71% of Russian drones
According to the Air Force, in August, September, and October 2024, Russia used 4,300 strike UAVs of the Shahed type and other types of drones mimicking real "Shaheds" against Ukraine. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Thanks to the coordinated combat work of the Air Defense of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, 3,063 enemy UAVs were shot down, which is 71%
In addition, daily reports from the Air Force included markings "locationally lost" - meaning disappeared from radars, likely due to active electronic warfare countermeasures or other reasons. During the indicated period, from August to October 2024, such drones amounted to 1052, which is 24%.
Hence, direct hits by enemy UAVs constitute 5%. Destruction or damage may also occur due to the fall of UAVs shot down by air defense.
The General Staff notes that October set a record for the launch of enemy strike drones:
- August: 818 - launched, 701 - shot down, 91 - locationally lost;
- September: 1,410 - launched, 1,156 - shot down, 201 - locationally lost;
- October: 2,072 - launched, 1,206 - shot down, 766 - locationally lost.
During a similar period: May, June, and July 2024, 1,133 strike UAVs were launched over the territory of Ukraine. Air defense shot down 1,055, locationally lost - 10. The interception rate for the period of May-July 2024 is about 94%
Thus, the percentage of direct hits by enemy strike UAVs of the Shahed type and other types mimicking real "Shaheds" in May-July and August-October 2024 is 6 and 5 percent, respectively, the General Staff added.
It should be noted that over the last seven days, the Russian Federation attacked Ukraine with 900 bombs and 500 "Shaheds." This was reported by Zelensky. In addition to drones and bombs, Russia also launched 30 missiles. Most of these strikes were directed against civilian objects and critical infrastructure, the president clarified.
Also in Kyiv, after a UAV attack, debris fell on a residential building, causing a fire.
