Ukrainian gymnast Nazar Chepurny published a video on TikTok where he mocks another gymnast Ilya Kovtun. This news is reported by 'Glavkom'. Kovtun complained to Croatian media that Ukrainians, in his opinion, did not show enough enthusiasm regarding his Olympic medal. A video appeared on TikTok, in which Kovtun's statements are ridiculed. This video was reposted by Nazar Chepurny himself. Quote from the TikTok post: 'I'm changing my citizenship' (with reference to the video). Kovtun explained his decision to compete under the Croatian flag in an interview with Croatian media. He noted that not only the war in Ukraine prompted him to this decision but also other circumstances. The gymnast felt a moral obligation to the people in Osijek, where he received support. He noted that there was more joy over his victory there than in Ukraine. Kovtun confirmed that after the start of the invasion in Ukraine, he was not in the country. Skeleton athlete Vladislav Geraskevich expressed his opinion about Kovtun's change of citizenship and his coach Irina Gorbachova. He condemns their behavior as they received financial support from the state budget. Many people share his opinion. Kovtun has submitted documents to obtain Croatian citizenship. His coach Irina Gorbachova (Nadyuk) has also submitted documents for citizenship.
