Conclave: the results of the morning voting for the new pontiff became known.

New Voting for the Pope
On May 8, black smoke came from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, indicating that the cardinals did not elect a new head of the Catholic Church again. This was reported by the resource 'Glavkom'.
According to the schedule, the new voting will take place this evening. On Thursday, the second day of the elections, four votes are planned: two in the morning and two in the afternoon. The day began at 11:30 and 13:00 Kyiv Time.
On the first day of the conclave, black smoke was coming from the chimney, which meant that the cardinals could not reach a consensus. Before the conclave, the cardinals took solemn oaths to maintain strict secrecy - violation of this is punishable by excommunication from the church.
It is known that about 80% of the cardinals entered the Sistine Chapel at the appointment of Pope Francis, which may serve as a basis for the continuation of progressive policies in the new Pope. Possible candidates include Italian Cardinal Pietro Parolin and Filipino Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle.
The territory of the Vatican is disconnected from mobile communication, and communication jammers will be used in the chimney. During breaks between votes, the cardinals will have the opportunity to have lunch and continue seeking a compromise.
