Lithuania protested to Russia over war crimes against Ukraine
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania summoned the temporary charge d'affaires of the Russian Federation, Alexander Yolkine, and handed him a note expressing a strong protest against Russia's war crimes against Ukraine and its people.
This was reported by Ukrinform citing the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.
It is reported that Russia continues its aggression against Ukraine and increasingly shells Ukrainian cities and civilians, as well as critically important infrastructure within them.
In addition, there are reports of Russian troops shooting unarmed Ukrainian prisoners of war and committing other war crimes with 'alarming regularity.' At least three such cases have been recorded in October-November of this year, in which more than 20 Ukrainian servicemen became victims.
During the meeting, it was emphasized to the representative of the Russian Federation that if the Russian leadership and law enforcement agencies do not take measures to investigate and prevent such crimes, they will be considered accomplices to these crimes. It is also stressed that responsibility will have to be shared by Russian diplomats who justify the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania again demanded that Russia immediately cease its illegal aggression against Ukraine, stop any military actions, withdraw its armed forces from the entire territory of Ukraine, and compensate Ukraine for all damages caused as a result of military aggression.
