Metallurgical Holding of Akhmetov Trains AI to Control Product Quality.

The 'Metinvest' Group is implementing artificial intelligence in production to automate processes and control product quality. One of the innovative products is a computer vision-based system for real-Time monitoring of semi-finished products quality, which represents a significant step forward for the company. This was reported by Maksym Balaniuk, head of the R&D center Metinvest Digital, at the conference 'Big Digital Transformation. Dialogues about the Future,' organized by the NV publication in Kyiv.
Balaniuk emphasized that technology is only part of the task, and the main challenges lie in cybersecurity, regulation, and compliance with new standards, including European ones.
‘If you are still not working with AI - it’s time to start, because without it your competitiveness will rapidly decline,’ remarked Maksym Balaniuk.
'Metinvest' is actively implementing digital solutions with elements of artificial intelligence that are already successfully solving practical business tasks. Real-time quality control of semi-finished products has become an important step in development and has opened new possibilities for other projects.
The system is already successfully operating at the largest 'Metinvest' enterprise, automatically detecting defects during production and providing operators with the necessary information for proper material trimming. In addition, a similar solution is being developed for other equipment to detect defects at high product movement speeds. The first version is planned to be completed by the end of August, after which testing operations will begin.
Artificial Intelligence Helps 'Metinvest' Improve Production
The company 'Metinvest' uses artificial intelligence to optimize production processes and maintain high product quality, allowing it to remain competitive in the market.
As a result of implementing digital technologies and AI, new opportunities are opening up for the company, which help it solve real production tasks more efficiently and quickly.
