Estonian Foreign Ministry: European countries must be ready to send troops to Ukraine.

The Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna noted that Europe must be ready to consider the possibility of sending military forces to Ukraine to support a peace agreement between Kyiv and Moscow at the request of Donald Trump, if necessary. He asserts that the most reliable security guarantee for Ukraine remains NATO membership.
Tsahkna stated that Ukraine's security can only be ensured under fair peace, which can be achieved through NATO membership, but this is impossible without U.S. support. At the moment, the growing interest in possible changes in the U.S. position prompts Ukraine's European allies to consider ways to support the country.
The Minister emphasizes that Europe will find it difficult to provide security guarantees to Ukraine without U.S. participation, especially if it could lead to a conflict with Russia. However, Estonia actively supports Europe's efforts, particularly those of the United Kingdom and Poland, in strengthening Ukraine's security. Estonia demands NATO to increase defense spending to 2.5%.
Tsahkna added that Europe needs investments to expand its defense capabilities and emphasized that Ukraine's fate determines the security architecture of all Europe, as it is the first line of NATO's defense.
