Problems at the training ground: The Verkhovna Rada will discuss the causes of the tragedy

This week, a meeting of the Defense Committee of the Verkhovna Rada will take place, where Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov will be present. Deputies plan to discuss the causes of the tragedy at the Novomoskovsk training ground in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The Commander of the Ground Forces, Mykhailo Drapaty, will also be present. This was reported by MP Hennadiy Kasai.

According to him, the deputies will discuss issues regarding the punishment of those responsible. Kasai stated that this week there will be a committee meeting to address these issues. He also added that representatives of the General Staff of the Armed Forces have been invited to the committee meeting.

As a reminder, on March 1, a tragedy occurred at the training ground of the Ground Forces in the Dnipropetrovsk region: the enemy attacked with a missile carrying cluster munitions. Several dozen people were killed, and hundreds were injured.

So far, information about the causes and the culpability of those responsible for the tragedy has not been clarified, but Drapaty stated that those responsible will not hide behind reasons or formal reports. He emphasized that he would demand the strictest punishment for those who did not comply with safety procedures.

The State Bureau of Investigation has already initiated a criminal proceeding regarding the tragedy.
