Poland to launch serial production of its own 155 mm shells.

In the city of Gorlice, Poland, the production of 155 mm artillery shells will begin. This will enhance the independence of the Polish army in the production of shells for the Krab and K 9 guns and howitzers. This was reported by Polish Radio, citing the Military Institute of Arms Technology and the company PGO.
The prototype of the shell is already in the final stages of creation. According to PGO Vice President Andrzej Bulanowski, field tests may begin this year, and mass production is scheduled for the middle of next year.
'This is a turning point for the Polish defense industry. Creating conditions for complete autonomy in the production of artillery ammunition increases our defense capability. This is particularly important when it comes to such a basic caliber as 155 mm. We are becoming independent.'
155 mm artillery shells are widely used by the Ukrainian army and are standard for NATO countries. They are referred to as 'The Queen of the Trenches of Ukraine' and are used around the clock on the Ukrainian front.
The production of artillery shells by Poland is a step towards independence in the field of defense technologies. It will reduce reliance on external supplies and ensure its own needs for heavy weaponry.
The use of 155 mm artillery shells in the Polish army is crucial for ensuring its defense capability. Additionally, it will allow Poland to unite with NATO countries in the standardization of weapons, improving interaction and cooperation with the armies of other countries.
