Ukraine must ratify international documents on physical culture and sports - expert
Pavlo Bulhak, former advisor to the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, expressed his opinion on Oleksandr Usyk's dissertation. He assumes that the boxer was referring to the Code of Sports Ethics of the Council of Europe, but notes that this code is not subject to ratification. He also points out the existence of sports federations with their own Codes of Ethics, for example, the Football Federation of Ukraine. While Ukraine ratifies individual conventions of the Council of Europe, such as the anti-doping convention and the convention against the manipulation of sports competitions.
The expert expressed the opinion that Ukraine should create its own arbitration and mediation mechanism for resolving disputes in the field of sports, similar to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Bulhak also notes that there are issues with the capacity and recognition of the Sports Arbitration Court established under the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine by national sports federations.
