Reuters revealed details of the negotiations between Zelensky and Trump regarding the transfer of the nuclear power plant.

The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which has been occupied by Russia, is in a state of cold shutdown. U.S. President Donald Trump suggested taking control of this power plant by the United States, but this is complicated by emerging issues. In particular, there is the question of returning investments needed to restore the plant.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and Donald Trump discussed the possibility of U.S. assistance in managing and modernizing the Zaporizhzhia NPP. Trump's proposal is an attempt to find new ideas for achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict and pressure on Russia to hand over control of the power plant.
Energy analysts claim that returning the Zaporizhzhia NPP to the Ukrainian energy system will be a turning point for electricity production in Ukraine and Eastern and Central Europe. However, this will take a lot of Time - up to a year to restart one reactor and up to four years for the full restoration of the plant's operation.
The main issue is that the plant has lost access to water after the dam was blown up. This leads to a shortage of water for reactor operation. To restore the plant's operation, it is also necessary to solve the problem of water supply from neighboring power plants and restore the route to the city of Enerhodar.
Despite the difficulties, the residents of Zaporizhzhia believe that the return of the power plant is an important step for Ukraine and prefer its implementation.
