The rival of Yastremska in the second round of the Australian Open is known.

At the Australian Open 2025, Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska (WTA 33) learned about her next rival. In the second round, she will play against Danka Kovinic (Montenegro, WTA 1289), who unexpectedly defeated LuLu San (New Zealand, WTA 44) in 1 hour and 29 minutes.
Danka Kovinic (Montenegro) – LuLu San (New Zealand) – 6:3, 7:5
The 30-year-old Kovinic achieved her first victory since November 2024 and last won in August 2023. Last season, she almost didn't compete due to a back injury.
LuLu San first made a name for herself at Wimbledon 2024, reaching the quarter-finals. She was considered the clear favorite in the match against Kovinic – the betting odds were 1.05 against 11.00.
Previously, Yastremska and Kovinic have not played against each other. At the start of the Australian major, Dayana defeated Mayar Sherif with a score of 6:1, 6:4.
