China calls on all parties in the Middle East conflict to accelerate the implementation of the UN resolution on the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestine based on the 1967 borders.
This was stated by China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the UN.
'The unresolved Palestinian issue lies at the heart of the conflict in Gaza. It has been over 70 years since the UN adopted the resolution on the creation of two states – Palestine and Israel, but the two-state solution has only been partially realized. The State of Israel was established long ago, but the Palestinian people still do not have their own country. Many have become displaced persons, refugees. The Palestinian issue remains central to the Middle Eastern problem. Without the realization of the two-state solution, the logic of retribution for grievances will not cease, and the cycle of violence in response to violence will not end. Peace and stability in the Middle East will not be guaranteed, and the peace and security of all countries will be under threat,' said Wang, as reported by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
The head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized that Gaza is the Palestinian homeland and part of Palestinian territory.
'All parties in the Middle East must overcome their differences and support the statehood of Palestine. The United Nations must take measures to recognize Palestine as a full member. Gaza is the Palestinian homeland and part of Palestinian territory and should not be a victim of international politics. Interested parties must continue to adhere to the ceasefire agreement and adopt a constructive position to promote further negotiations. Post-conflict management of Gaza must adhere to the principle of 'Palestinians govern Palestine' and correspond to the two-state solution, ultimately achieving peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel, as well as long-term peace and stability in the Middle East,' Wang said.
