Ukraine has begun preparing proposals for a new State Social Program to Counter Human Trafficking until 2030. The first session, where representatives of the authorities and international partners gathered, has already taken place in Kyiv. According to the Ministry of Economy, Ukraine has successfully implemented 14 out of 21 necessary regulatory acts regarding the program by 2025. Moreover, the number of trained specialists has exceeded the target by more than three times, and social services have been provided to victims. Additionally, over 1299 informational events have been conducted, and international cooperation is developing.
The main goal of the new program is to simplify the procedure for obtaining assistance for victims and preventing human trafficking, harmonize legislation with the European Union, and respond to the conditions of large-scale migration, especially of women and children. The new program plans to develop algorithms for assisting victims of sexual exploitation and mechanisms to support Ukrainians abroad. The development of the new program is carried out with the support of UNODC, the International Organization for Migration, and the Office of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sexual Violence in Conflict.
