Ukrainians were told what bread prices to prepare for starting March 1.

Ukraine is facing significant increases in the prices of bakery products, which will continue further. This was reported by expert Svitlana Cheremysina from the National Scientific Center 'Institute of Agricultural Economics'.
Last year, the price of bakery products continuously rose, increasing on average by 1.5-3% each month.
The prices of wheat bread made from premium flour rose to 51.91 UAH/kg, which is 17.8% more compared to the beginning of the year. The prices for first-grade wheat bread increased to 42.52 UAH/kg (+19.0%), while rye bread rose to 45.12 UAH/kg (+20.6%). The price of a loaf increased by 20.6% and is now 27.78 UAH for 500 grams.
The trend of rising prices continues this year as well. In January-February 2025, the price of wheat bread made from premium flour increased by 3.4%, first-grade wheat bread by 2.1%, and rye bread by 0.7%. A loaf has become 2.4% more expensive and now costs 28.46 UAH for 500 grams.
The expert noted that the increase in bread prices is mainly due to rising raw material costs. In 2024, flour prices rose by 27%, oil by 23.5%, while sugar remained stable. Also, the purchase prices for wheat increased significantly: class 2 wheat became 71.3% more expensive, and class 3 by 59.9%. These trends continue into 2025, raising the price of both classes of wheat by over 1000 hryvnias per ton.
'Other components of the bread-making technological process are also becoming more expensive, specifically the difficult situation in the energy sector, rising fuel prices, and tax burdens,' they added at the Institute of Agricultural Economics.
The expert predicts that during March, the price of bread may increase by 3-4%.
