Harvest-2024: how much and what kind of crops have already been harvested by farmers in Ukraine.


Ukrainian farmers continue to work on ensuring food security despite the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, reports the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy.
In total, 40.2 million tons of grain, 17 million tons of oilseeds, and almost 5 million tons of sugar beets have already been harvested. In particular:
- wheat - threshed 4.9 million hectares (or 100%), harvested 22.3 million tons;
- barley - threshed 1.4 million hectares (or 100%), harvested 5.5 million tons;
- peas - threshed 212.2 thousand hectares (or 100%), harvested 465.3 thousand tons;
- corn - threshed 1.9 million hectares (or 48%), harvested 10.6 million tons;
- millet - threshed 82.9 thousand hectares (or 89%), harvested 156.1 thousand tons;
- buckwheat - threshed 85.8 thousand hectares (or 96%), harvested 124.3 thousand tons;
- sunflower - threshed 4.3 million hectares (or 87%), harvested 8.8 million tons of seeds;
- soybeans - threshed 2.1 million hectares (or 80%), harvested 4.8 million tons of seeds;
- rapeseed - threshed 1.3 million hectares (or 100%), harvested 3.5 million tons of seeds.
The highest gross grain harvest is observed in Odessa region - 4.2 million tons, Poltava region - 3.5 million tons, and Kirovograd region - 2.7 million tons. Farmers in Khmelnytskyi, Bukovyna, Cherkasy, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions lead in grain yield.
Also, the harvesting of sugar beets continues in 12 regions of Ukraine.
Recall that in Ukraine, a program of state compensation to farmers for demining agricultural lands has started.
It is forecasted that this year the gross production of grain and oilseeds will be about 74 million tons, including about 52.4 million tons of grain and 21.7 million tons of oilseeds.
It is also worth noting that in India, the best monsoon season since 2020 has ended, which contributed to a high yield of rice, soybeans, and pulses.
