A unique AI testing ground will be created in Ukraine: what will change in demining.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is considering the possibility of creating a new testing ground where new demining technologies using artificial intelligence will be tested.
This idea was discussed during a meeting of representatives from the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Economy, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the United Nations Development Programme, and other organizations.
To enhance the effectiveness of humanitarian demining and share experiences, they proposed the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety to join the project.
The testing ground under the control of the Ministry of Defense could become a unique platform for conducting joint research, testing, and training.
According to Colonel Olga Drobot, new technologies will speed up the demining process, enhance the safety of deminers, and reduce risks for the civilian population.
The meeting also discussed approaches to satellite and aerial imagery analysis for mapping mined areas, as well as the use of neural networks for recognizing minefields and integrating artificial intelligence into demining processes.
