Payments before Independence Day — who among combatants will receive aid in 2025.


Every year in Ukraine, Independence Day is celebrated, and one-Time financial assistance is provided to certain citizens in honor of the holiday. The year 2025 will not be an exception.
Combatants and payments before Independence Day — can they claim financial assistance
Yes, Article 12 of the Law of Ukraine 'On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection' grants combatants the right to receive a one-time monetary payment before Independence Day of Ukraine. The payments are made according to the following rules:
- If the combatant has already retired, he will receive the payment in August along with his pension;
- Combatants who are still in the army will receive it at their place of service if the respective application is submitted by the military unit.
To receive the one-time financial assistance, a person who is not a pensioner/not serving but is employed must submit an application to the territorial body of the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU). This can be done:
- In person, by contacting the selected service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine or the administrative services center at their declared/registered place of residence (stay);
- By mail — to the address of the territorial body of the Pension Fund of Ukraine;
- Online — through the electronic services portal of the Pension Fund of Ukraine, with the application of a qualified electronic signature.
How much will be paid in 2025
War veterans and other categories of Ukrainians will receive from UAH 450 to UAH 3.1 thousand in 2025. The payments are distributed as follows:
- UAH 450 will be paid to combatants and former prisoners of concentration camps, ghettos, other places of forced detention, persons who were forcibly taken for forced labor, children of partisans, underground fighters, and other participants in the fight against the National Socialist regime in the enemy's rear;
- UAH 650 — to the families of deceased (died) war veterans, whose status is established in accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 10 of the Law of Ukraine On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection, to the families of deceased (died) Defenders of Ukraine, wives (husbands) of deceased persons with disabilities due to war who have not remarried, wives (husbands) of deceased combatants, war participants, and victims of Nazi persecution, recognized during their lifetime as persons with disabilities due to general illness, work injury, or other reasons, who have not remarried;
- UAH 1 thousand — to combatants, affected participants of the Revolution of Dignity and former minors (who were under 18 at the time of imprisonment) prisoners of concentration camps, ghettos, other places of forced detention, as well as children born in specified places of forced detention of their parents;
- UAH 3.1 thousand — to persons with special merits before the Motherland.
Instead, persons with disabilities due to war and former minors (who were under 14 at the time of imprisonment) prisoners of concentration camps, ghettos, other places of forced detention, recognized as persons with disabilities due to general illness, work injury, or other reasons:
- Group I — UAH 3.1 thousand;
- Group II — UAH 2.9 thousand;
- Group III — UAH 2.7 thousand.
Previously, we reported that Ukrainians affected by Russian armed aggression receive up to UAH 50 thousand. The program is available in one of the cities.
We also remind that citizens with disabilities of Groups I-III from the Chernihiv region will receive financial assistance from the humanitarian fund of Ukraine (UHF). Applications can be submitted until July 21, 2025.
