The exhumation works taking place in the village of Puzhnyky in Ternopil region are an important step in reviving historical memory and memorial justice between Ukraine and Poland. This was stated by Andriy Nadzhos, Deputy Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications for European Integration. The exhumation works are part of the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Poland and were discussed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk, and President of Poland Andrzej Duda. According to Nadzhos, their goal is to restore historical memory and justice for both nations, as well as to honor those who died during the war. The works concern not only Polish citizens buried in the territory of Ukraine but also Ukrainian citizens buried in Poland. According to Nadzhos, the parties agreed on communication regarding the process and results of the works at the level of the ministers of culture of both countries. Such actions will contribute to strengthening the strategic partnership and mutual understanding between Ukraine and Poland, as well as help ensure peace and reconciliation in the region.
