The Ukrainian national basketball team learned about potential opponents in the World Championship qualifying.

Draw for the 2027 World Championship Qualifiers
On Tuesday, May 13, the draw for the 2027 World Championship qualifying took place in Doha, organized by the FBU. This will be the first World Championship in history to be held in Qatar, in the Middle East and North Africa region. The qualifying period will last from November 2025 to March 2027.
32 teams will participate in the European qualifying, divided into eight groups based on the FIBA Men's rankings. The Ukrainian national team will also participate in the qualifying and join the fight for a spot at the 2027 World Championship.
The Ukrainian national team still has to pass to the main stage of the qualifying for the 2027 World Championship - in August, Ainars Bagatskis' team will play in Group A with Slovakia and Switzerland in the second round of pre-qualifying.
In case of a successful exit from the pre-qualifying group, the Ukrainian national team will play in the first round of the selection in a group with strong opponents, including Spain and Georgia.
Last season, the captain of the women's national team of Ukraine and Valencia player Alina Yagupova showed high results, winning her third title as the champion of Spain, while also demonstrating effectiveness both in the championship and in the EuroLeague.
