Zelensky held talks with the leadership of the European Union
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the President of the European Council Charles Michel to discuss defense issues, sanctions against Russia, and Ukraine's Euro-integration. The President himself announced this on social media.
We have a common understanding that achieving a just and lasting peace for Ukraine and security guarantees requires unity from Europe. And we, along with our partners, must remain ready to defend Ukraine by force, as the war continues, and Russia does not want a just conclusion.
Zelensky also expressed gratitude to European officials for the adoption of the 16th package of EU sanctions against Russia. He emphasized that sanctions must target everything that finances Russian killings. Additionally, during the meeting, they discussed progress in the negotiations concerning Ukraine's accession to the EU.
Zelensky also thanked the heads of European institutions for their visit to Ukraine.
