The Last Address of the Pope: What the Pontiff Said about Ukraine.


In his last address, delivered in the Easter message on April 20, 2025, Pope Francis called for lasting peace in Ukraine. This statement became his last before his death.
The pontiff expressed deep concern regarding the war in Ukraine, calling it a 'ravaged war.'
In his message, he said:
May the Risen Christ grant Ukraine his Easter gift of peace, and encourage all parties to achieve a just and lasting peace.
The Pope also called for the release of prisoners of war and political prisoners, emphasizing the importance of humanity even in the toughest times.
Pope Francis had previously mentioned Ukraine in his prayers and addresses, calling for an end to the war and dialogue between the conflicting parties. His last message also referred to other regions suffering from conflicts, such as Israel, Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon, highlighting the global importance of peace.
On March 23, Pope Francis also urged the faithful to pray for peace in countries affected by wars, especially in Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Myanmar, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He also thanked his supporters for their patience and prayers.
